The village of Mahotiere, nestled close to nowhere in the barren rocky mountains of Haiti.
Many barter for their food; this woman offers fresh mangoes, a springtime "food of the gods."
It's a long, steep climb up to Mahotiere.
We could have given this woman the moon and she wouldn't have been as excited as she was to get this pair of reading glasses (purchased at the dollar store in Green Bay).
Though none of us speak Creole, we try to interact with the villagers after clinic. THe little girls (and some little boys!) love to have their nails polished.
One of the beautiful children of Mahotiere, dressed in her best to come to the clinic. Everyone dresses in their best to come to the clinic. It is a mystery as to how they can keep these clothes neat and clean in their little shacks.
