Grand Boulage


 

People gather well before daybreak to wait for the clinic to open. Clinic is held in this church, Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows.  Even the trees are painted blue in her honor.

 
    
 

Chapel at Grande Boulage is used as a clinic in daytime and converted to a dormitory at night.

Women set up a market of sorts on clinic day . . . people walk a great distance and bring most of their own food.

 
    
 

This midwife, who is in her nineties and still going strong, uses her walking stick to hike down the mountain to get medical supplies from our group.
